Graveside Servie & Celebration of Dad's Life

We held a graveside service & celebration of Dad's life on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison, Wisconsin.

William Richard Boyle
July 11, 1922 - April 15, 2014

Penelope brought flowers for Mom's grave - Phyllis Lucile Graham Boyle.  Dad's ashes, in the urn in the background, were buried next to Mom.

Dad received Military Funeral Honors at the gravesite.  These men and women veterans volunteer for this ceremony.  It was beautifully done.  This is the rifle detail who did a gun salute.  There was also a bugler who played the first bars of Wild Blue Yonder, followed by Taps.

There was a two man uniformed detail from the Air Force who did a flag folding and a flag presentation.  This was amazing in its precision and solemn respect.  Steve, Barb, Rick and I received the flag.  We were all brought to tears by this ceremony.
The four of us participated in the graveside service & all of the grandchildren took part in some way.

Here are the grandchildren: Chris, Tricia, Willie, Katie, Ian, Kelly, Jacob, Oriah, Emily, Ben, Alice.  Kevin and Joe were not able to be there that day.

Here are the great-grandchildren: Emma, Bella, Madison, Brent, Mason, Graham, Aaron, Isla, Eben, Adeline, Solenne, Penelope, Vivian, Gretta.

After the service, everyone met back at Barb's home for lunch and a celebration of Mom and Dad by sharing memories of our life with them.  And plenty of swimming, too.
